Fun, frolic & gaiety mark the opening of ECTOPIA-2013
The three-day Annual Inter Batch cultural extravaganza “ECTOPIA-2013” got off to a flying and colourful start today at Dumra Auditorium with all grandeur and ecstasy. During the three-day cultural festival, undergraduate medical students will compete with one-another for top honours in various talent hunt competitions.
The function commenced with an impressive inauguration ceremony by Vice-President of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Gian Chand Dhawan and Secretary of DMCH Managing Society- Sh Prem Kumar Gupta in the presence of Principal Dr Daljit Singh, Dean Academics Dr. Rajoo Singh Chinna, Medical Suptd. Dr Sandeep Puri and Assistant Dean Academics Dr Sandeep Kaushal.
Secretary of DMCH Cultural Committee-Dr Harish Matta extended warm welcome to the dignitaries, faculty and students present at the function. He informed that it has been nowmore than a decade that ECTOPIA was held in DMCH for the first time. More than 300 students of undergraduate classes would be participating in different events and various talent hunt competitions during this three-day cultural extravaganza.
Principal Dr Daljit Singh, said that cultural activities formed an integral part of leisure and recreation, and participation by students in such cultural activities helps in enhancing the overall development of their personality and provides an apt opportunity to exhibit their special talents.
Secretary Sh Prem Kumar Gupta declared the cultural meet open. In his address, he applauded the efforts of the students and members of DMCH Cultural Committee for organising the programme and wished best of luck to the participants.
Medical Supdt. & Chairman of DMC Cultural Committee- Dr Sandeep Puri proposed a vote of thanks to the dignitaries present on the occasion. He further said that such annual cultural festival help the students in providing them suitable platform to showcase their creative and artistic talents and an opportunity to relax and rejuvenate themselves them from their hectic academic routine. The events during ‘ECTOPIA-2013’ will be held in the morning from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm and in the evening from 7:00 pm onwards.
The programme began with lamp lighting ceremony followed by scheduled cultural events for the day, including Tu Tu Main (Debate),Chance Pe Dance(Spontaneous Dance performances) and Quiz. Off stage events held during the day include Painting & Sketching. The highlight of Tu Tu Main (Debate) segment was discussion in favour of and against the use of social networking site Facebook.
The participants enthralled the audience with their scintillating dance performances on various Bollywood numbers and Punjabi Pop music. In the ‘Quiz’ segment, five teams of two members each participated in seven rounds of interesting question-answer session on the topics pertaining to General Knowledge and Current Affairs The quiz was conducted by Dr Omesh Goyal.
