1) B.SC. NURSING COURSE

Bachelor of Science in Nursing Course shall be of four academic years, including compulsory rotatory intern-ship. This is subject to the rules of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot and Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi. This course starts in July /August every year. Each year 100 students are admitted to the college.

DISTRIBUTION OF SEATS – Total 100 seats

  1. The distribution of seats would be:
    • Government quota seats      50%
    • Management quota seats      50% (including Foreign Indian Student (N.R.I) and out of state quota)
  2. The government quota seats would be filled up by the admissions committee appointed by the Government on the basis of merit in PPMET and onwards, only except, if provided otherwise.
  3. The management quota seats would be filled up by a Central Admission Committee strictly on the basis of merit in the PPMET and onwards except, if provided otherwise. The candidate for the admission on management quota shall apply to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot also. The Management Quota seats shall be filled up on the basis of PPMET by the centralized admission committee constituted for this purpose. Government quota seats remaining vacant will be transferred to management quota and vice-versa.

PROCEDURE FOR SELECTION

Procedure for selection for government and Management quota (including NRI seats) will be as per PPMET prospectus. No admission shall be made after 30th September of each year including left over seats.

2) MASTER OF SCIENCE IN NURSING (M.Sc. COURSE)

ANNUAL SYSTEM

DURATION

The duration of the course for the degree of Master of Sciences in Nursing shall be of two Academic years and the examination shall be divided into two years. The examination for first year and second year ordinarily will be held in May/June and as per dates fixed by the University.

COURSES OFFERED

The courses for degree of Master of Science in Nursing shall have five clinical specialties and a candidate shall opt for one of these:

  1. Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing            - 5
  2. Paediatric Nursing                                    - 2
  3. Community Health Nursing                       - 6
  4. Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing    - 6
  5. Medical Surgical Nursing                          - 6

Medical Surgical Nursing will have five specialty areas that is (Critical Care Nursing, Cardio Vascular & Thoracic, Neuro Sciences and Oncology Nursing)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA/ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. The candidate should be a Registered Nurse and Registered midwife or equivalent with any State Nursing Registration Council.
  2. The minimum education requirements shall be the passing of
    • B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. Hons. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with minimum of 55% aggregate marks. 5% relaxation of marks for SC/ST candidates may beiven.
    • The candidate should have undergone in B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. Hons.Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing in an institution which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council. 
  3. Minimum one year of work experience after Basic B.Sc. Nursing.
  4. Minimum one year of work experience prior or after Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing.
  5. Candidate shall be medically fit.

3). Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care: Post Graduate Residency Program

     DURATION

The duration of the course for the degree of Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care: Post Graduate Residency Programme shall be of two Academic years and the examination shall be divided into two years. The examination for first year and second year ordinarily will be held in May/June as per dates fixed by the University.

NUMBER OF SEATS: 10

    ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA/ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Applicants must possess a registered B.Sc.  Nurse with a minimum of one year clinical experience, preferably in any critical care setting prior to enrolment.
  2. Must have undergone the B.Sc Nursing in an institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.
  3. Must have scored not less than 55% aggregate marks in the B.Sc Nursing program
  4. Selection must be based on the merit of an entrance examination and interview held by the competent authority.
  5. Any other qualification/ eligibility fixed by the university.
  6. Candidate shall be medically fit.
