IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR NRI APPLICANTS


NRI students desiring to join MBBS/PG/BSC Nursing course at DMCH, Ludhiana must note that all admissions are made strictly according to provisions of the concerned notifications issued by the Punjab Government and the Prospectus of the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot.

Regulations regarding Student Visa for foreign applicants:


As per provisions contained in Visa Manual of Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, foreign national students are admitted in medical courses in private medical colleges in India on the basis of provisional Student Visa. Thereafter, NOC from Ministry of Health & Family Welfare is obtained on the basis of which provisional Student Visa is converted into full time student visa for the duration of course.

Applicants possessing PIO or OCI cards are advised to contact the concerned authorities or the Indian Consulate/Missions abroad to clarify requirement of student visa for studying in India.

Admission to the college will be made only on submission of a copy of the student visa (or the document from concerned authorities confirming that student visa is not required) in order to obtain the mandatory NOC from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India

Que: Can foreign students come on Tourist Visa to explore admission in some courses/  institutes and get Student Visa while in India?

Ans: No. In order to enable the foreign students to explore various options to study in India, he/she can apply for provisional Student Visa of 6 months duration from Indian Mission abroad and once he/she gets the confirmed admission while in India, he/she can apply for a Student Visa to the local FRRO/FRO along with necessary documentary evidences of confirmed admission, financial standing etc.


Que: Can I get my tourist visa converted to a student visa?

Ans:
"Change of purpose" of visit of international students to India is not allowed once they arrive in India. Therefore, if you come to India on tourist or any other type of visa, you cannot get this visa changed to student visa.

According to government regulations, if an international student coming to India on a tourist or any other type of visa (except a student visa ), obtains admission into a university or any institution in India, the student will be required to return to his country and obtain a new visa (i.e. a student visa) from the Indian mission there.
