Dr. Sonalika Sharma, Resident, Department of Surgery, has won the prestigious Nabeel Ibrahim Memorial Prize for Best Original Hernia Surgery Presentation at the Australia New Zealand (ANZ) Hernia Annual Conference 2024 in Brisbane. Her presentation on “AI-Powered SSI Surveillance,” a project developed under the guidance of Dr. Ashvind Bawa, Professor of Surgery, secured 1st Place, winning a prize of $1000 and free registration to the European Hernia Society Cadaver Lab next year.
DMC&H also proud of our senior resident, Dr. Tanveer Kaur, who presented valuable research on AI in NPWT (Negative Pressure Wound Therapy) and Hernia Surgery, showcasing the potential of AI in improving surgical outcomes. Additionally, Dr. Ashvind Bawa delivered three invited talks at the conference, further highlighting our commitment to advancing AI in surgery and sharing insights on its evolving role in healthcare.
