India is going through a period of transition both epidemiological and demographic. The communicable disease burden of the people in India is one of the highest in the world infectious diseases are still persisting as a major health problem inspite of having national programs for the control of most of the communicable diseases for almost half of the century now. Although, the expectancy of life has increased, with consequent rise in degenerative disease of aging and lifestyle changes. Nevertheless, communicable diseases are still dominant & constitute major public health issues.
