Dr Kamaldeep Arora is currently working as Professor in the Division of Neonatology, Department of Pediatrics at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana. After completing his post graduation, MD Pediatrics from DMCH Ludhiana, worked as Senior Resident at the premiere PGIMER, Chandigarh. He worked hard for his passion for the care of sick and premature newborn babies and got selected for DM Neonatology at the esteemed All India Institute of Medical Sciences (New Delhi). During his training in neonatal intensive care at AIIMS, he got immense exposure to the diagnosis and management of all kinds of problems in newborns and developed skills to manage extremely low birth weight (ELBW) premature newborns.
A dedicated neonatologist with good neonatal skills, his areas of interest include care of ELBW babies, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP), Neonatal Echocardiography and high frequency ventilation with special interest in brain oriented care (aEEG) and intact survival of tiny premature newborns. DMCH has a well equipped state of art neonatal ICU with both conventional and high frequency ventilator, being the only neonatal ICU in north India to have received level III accreditation by national neonatology forum (NNF). Total par enteral nutrition (TPN) and all other interventions required to deal with ELBW babies are routinely practised under his guidance. NICU survival of premature babies of approximately 95 to 98 percent has been achieved.
Having published many literature reviews, meta-analysis, research articles and book chapters in various peer reviewed journals and neonatology books published to his credit. He is reviewer for the esteemed journals like Indian Journal of Pediatrics and Therapeutic Advances in Vaccines. Due to his vast experience in the field of neonatology, Dr Kamal has been invited as speaker for various national (NEOCON, PEDICON) and international conferences (American academy of pediatrics). Besides being a national level teaching faculty in many neonatology CPAP and ventilation workshops (NEOCON 2014), he also looks after the neonatology fellowship programs run by national neonatology forum. Dr Kamal Arora is the member of the accreditation programme being currently undertaken by NNF all over India. Very passionate about his work, he aims to deliver the best newborn care for the precious premature babies and work towards normal growth and development of these babies. |
