                                                           Doc from Mayo Clinic, USA visited DMCH

Dr Harvinder Luthra, Consultant  Rheumatologist) from Mayo Clinic, USA today visited DMCH and was given a warm welcome by Principal Dr Sandeep Puri. On his visit to the hospital, Dr Luthra was taken for a round in different areas of the hospital including ICU block and High Dependancy Units located in Medicine Department of the hospital.

Dr Luthra conducted bedside demonstration of patients admitted in various wards of the hospital. In his interaction with the undergraduate (UG) and post graduate (PG) students, Dr Luthra gave them some basic tips which can help them to make a difference in their careers. In his message, Dr Luthra emphasized that the best clinicians are driven by a passion for patient care and approach the practice of medicine with humility. 

While talking about his area of field, Dr Luthra informed that a rheumatic disease affects the joints and connective tissues.  More than 100 diseases are classified as rheumatic diseases, including many types of arthritis. Treatments for the various conditions may include lifestyle changes but treatment for every patients is tailored as per ones physical condition. A guest lecture was also held on Immunoglobulin G4-related disease, which is a very rare disease and was well attended by faculty from the Department of Medicine and post graduate students.
