CME on Postoperative Pain Management 21/10/2013
As a part of World Pain Week Celebrations, Department of Anaesthesia organized CME on Postoperative Pain Management under the aegis of Punjab Medical Council today in Dumra Auditorium. The CME was formally inaugurated by Secretary of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta. Also present on the occasion were Principal Dr Daljit Singh, Medical Supdts. Dr Sandeep Puri and Dr Ashwani Chaudhary.
In his address to the audience, Organizing Chairman- Dr Sunil Katyal said that Effective postoperative pain control is an essential component of the care of the surgical patient. Advances in pharmacology, techniques, and education are making major inroads into the management of postoperative pain. Nursing education, patient care and physician responsiveness are key to the success of any pain management improvement initiative.
Organizing Secretary-Dr Suneet Kathuria said that Management of postoperative pain relieves suffering and leads to earlier mobilization, shortened hospital stay, reduced hospital costs, and increased patient satisfaction. Pain control regimens should be tailored to the needs of the individual patient, taking into account medical, psychological, and physical conditions including age, level of fear or anxiety, surgical procedure, personal preference and response to agents given.
The speakers during CME were Dr Suneet Kathuria, Dr Pankaj Mohindra, Dr Shweta Gupta and Dr Gulzar Gupta. They spoke on Postoperative pain Management from Disease perspective, Orthopaedic Surgeon’s perspective, Gynaecologist’s perspective and Neuro-Surgeon’s perspective respctively. The CME got concluded with Multispeciality Panel discussion. |
