CME on Gynaecological Challanges

 

                                                                        CME of Obstetrics & Gynaecology held                                      27th July,2013

 

Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology today orgnized CME on ‘Challenges in Obstetrics & Gynaecology Practice’ during Quarterly Meeting of Northern Chapter of Obstetrics & Gynaecological Society of Northern India held in Dumra Auditorium.The CME was formally inaugurated by Secretary of DMCH Managing Society Sh Prem Kumar Gupta along with Principal Dr Daljit Singh, Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina and Medical Supdt. Dr Sandeep Puri.

                                                                                            

 

During the CME, a wide array of debatable issues in Obstetrics and Gynaecology were discussed and nearly 200 local practitioners as well as medical fraternity from nearby medical colleges attended the CME.

In her message to the audience, Chief Organizer Dr Promila Jindal (Professor & Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology) extended warm welcome to the dignitaries and participating delegates present on the occasion. She informed that Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at DMCH provides comprehensive services to women in the treatment and management of gynaecologic and obstetric conditions – from routine care to complex high-risk situations.

                                                                    

Organiziing Secretaries-Dr Sunil K Juneja & Dr Shweta Gupta informed that the CME began with lecture on ‘Endometeriosis in the young-An Upcoming Challenge’ by Dr Lakhbir Dhaliwal from PGIMER, Chandigarh.  Dr Madhu Nagpal from SGRD, Amritsar elaborated on ‘Re-appraisal of Prolapse Surgery’.  Dr Manjit Mohi from Patiala spoke on ‘Catch it Early-Placenta Accreta.’ In her lecture, she informed that Placenta accreta occurs in approximately 1 of 500 deliveries and is associated with considerable maternal morbidity including large volume of blood transfusion, peripartum hysterectomy, cystotomy, intensive care unit (ICU) admission, infection, and prolonged hospitalisation. 

A debate was also held on the topics ‘Preterm Pregnancy Termination’ and ‘Our Experience with Preterm Babies’. Post-lunch session include panel discussion on ‘Controversies in Medico Legal Aspects of Obstetrics & Gynae Practice’ by HPV Vaccine Update.
