                                          World Asthma Day Observed

On the occasion of 'World Asthma Day' Department of Respiratory Medicine, DMC&H conducted a hands on training for Nursing Staff of DMC&H and a e - poster making competition for MBBS Batch 2021. This year's theme for world asthma day is  "Asthma Education Empowers"

The purpose of this event is to create awareness among the students regarding asthma and provide the necessary skills and knowledge of asthma among the nursing staff to enhance the patient care with asthma management.

The training session covered a range of essential topics, by which nursing staff were made aware about asthma and its triggers, symptoms of asthma, enabling them to recognize and respond to asthma-related emergencies promptly and they learnt about the use of various medical devices which are used in asthma care.
In his message, Secretary Sh Bipin Gupta, highlighted that, DMC&H is committed to provide the best medical care to their patients and the Department of Respiratory Medicine at DMC&H has all the facilities for the management of various respiratory ailments.

Dr GS Wander, Principal DMC&H encouraged all the participants for their active participation and emphasized that such kind of events provides a valuable platform for participants to exchange their knowledge and gain learning opportunities.

Dr Akashdeep Singh, Professor & Head Department of Respiratory Medicine highlighted that on this World Asthma day our institution raised awareness about asthma, its symptoms, triggers and self management strategies amongst people, hence empowering them about the disease by providing appropriate knowledge & clearing the myths and stigma related to asthma. Further 'we empowered the health care professionals (Junior Doctors & MBBS students) with evidence based information' said Dr Akashdeep.
 
A skit on 'asthma awareness' was also presented by the BSc nursing students and all the winners were awarded with prizes.
