Annual Convocation -2012 10-Mar-2012
The Annual Convocation of Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana was held on 10th March in Dumra Auditorium with traditional grandeur and gaiety. 51 medical graduates of the MBBS Batch 2006 were awarded degrees and prizes.
The chief guest, during the convocation, was Chairman, Board of Governors, Medical Council of India- Dr KK Talwar. Renowned Cardiologist and Former Director of PGIMER-Dr KK Talwar is a recipient of several prestigious awards including Padma Bhushan, Dr B.C. Roy National Award, Ranbaxy Research Award for Clinical Research, Amrut Modi UNICHEM Award of Indian Council for Medical Research, Fellow National Academy of Medical Sciences (FAMS) & Indian National Science Academy, Honorary Consultant/Advisor to the Armed Forces Medical Services and President, National Academy of Medical Sciences .
The convocation began with the welcome address by Dean Academics, Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina, who also introduced the chief guest to the audience.
In his address, Dr Rajoo Singh said that Dr Talwar is an internationally-acclaimed cardiologist, a loved teacher and a renowned researcher in the field of medicine.
Principal Dr Daljit Singh read out the annual report of the college and highlighted the achievements and progress made by the esteemed faculty and various departments in the last one year.
Appreciating the progress made by DMCH, Dr KK Talwar said that the institute, with its graduate, post-graduate and super-specialty programmes, is one of the most prestigious medical institutions of the region. He congratulated the parents and the teachers of all the newly inducted young doctors for their unending efforts, guidance, patience and perseverance.
Sh Sunil Kant Munjal, President of the DMCH Managing Society, congratulated the graduates and asked them to fulfill their duty with utmost dedication and within the limits of medical ethics. He exhorted the medical graduates to keep faith in their profession.
Vice-Principal Dr Jagdeep Whig administered the Hippocratic Oath to the fresh graduates before presenting them their degrees.
The gold medal for the best graduate was presented to Dr Bhandari Gurbir Singh and the silver medal to Dr Avreen Singh Shah. The Best All-Rounder is Dr Avreen Sigh Shah and Best Intern Award went to Dr Bhandari Gurbir Singh.
The chief guest awarded 70 prizes and 17 medals to the students of various batches who had excelled in various subjects.
