CME on “Hepatitis –Current Perspectives” held on the occasion of ‘World Hepatitis Day’ 28th July
'World Hepatitis Day’ is celebrated annually on 28th July to raise awareness among general public, this year theme for the day is 'I Can't Wait'.
To commemorate this day, Department of Microbiology DMCH organized a CME on “Hepatitis – Current Perspective” at DMC College Campus which was attended by more than 300 delegates from different medical colleges.
The event was formally inaugurated by Secretary DMCH Managing Society, Sh Prem Kumar Gupta along with Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Vice Principal Dr G S Wander, Dean Academics Dr Sandeep Kaushal, Medical Supdts. Dr Ashwani K Chaudhary, Dr Sandeep Sharma , Dr Bishav Mohan, Dr Ajit Sood Professor & Head Department of Gastroenterology, DMCH 4 credit hours awarded for the CME.
Sh Prem Kumar Gupta, Secretary DMCH Managing Society congratulated the organizing team to conduct this CME on such recent issue.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Veenu Gupta Organizing Secretary, Professor and Head Department of Microbiology highlighted that Department of Microbiology at DMCH has state of art facilities to early diagnosis of all types of Hepatitis so that timely treatment can be given for the betterment of the patient. It is the responsibility of each one of us to protect ourselves by following healthy practices and to get vaccinated for Hepatitis A and B said Dr Veenu
To mark the celebration of Golden Jubilee year of Department of Microbiology a ‘Souvenir’ was launched during the event which comprises brief history, magnificent contributions and memories of department. Giving information about the souvenir, Dr Veenu Gupta highlighted that it is a tribute to all faculty, post graduates and staff who have contributed to growth, glory of the department over the years and serve as a constant source of inspiration to carry its legacy forward.
Various sessions and topics pertaining to hepatitis were delivered by esteem faculty members who had come from all over the region from different medical colleges. The key note address on ‘Viral Hepatitis Elimination Status in Punjab delivered by Dr Manhardeep Kaur, Medical Officer NVHCP . Dr Sandeep Bhola , Deputy Medical Commissioner Kapurthala delivered session on Drug Use and Hepatitis- A fatal duo and Dr S K Sinha from Department of Gastroenterology, PGIMER delivered a lecture on Hepatocellular Carcinoma- Surveillance & Biomarkers Other senior faculty members from PGIMER, ILBS Delhi, Department of Community Medicine, Gastroenterology and Obst. and Gynaecology from DMCH also shared their views on Hepatitis.
The CME got concluded with cake cutting ceremony and an impressive scientific and oral paper presentation which was coordinated by the Dr Rama Gupta, Dr Jyoti Chaudhary and Dr Meenal Gupta.
Winners for the oral paper presentation were in 1st category 1st prize bagged by Dr Harmandeep Kaur Microbiology DMCH, 2nd prize bagged by Dr Devika Bansal Pathology DMCH, 3rd Prize bagged by Dr Harpriya Microbiology GMC Amritsar.inn 2nd category 1st prize bagged by Dr Harleen Kaur department of Dermatology DMCH and 2nd Prize bagged by Dr Ashwinder Singh GMCH Amritsar. For poster presentation Dr Pushkar from Microbiology PGIMS Rohtak and 2nd Prize bagged by Dr Divjot Singh Micro DMCH. |
