Month long Thalassemia Awareness Campaign concludes

21st Annual Medicos Blood Donation Camp organized
This year's theme for the International Thalassemia Day was “Be Aware Share Care” and to commemorate this day a month long awareness campaign was concluded on 7th May, 2022 by organizing annual medicos blood donation camp for Thalassemia patients at DMCH.
In keeping with the theme (Aware Share & Care) during the campaign various awareness videos form doctors, patients with thalassaemia and their success stories were shared through the virtual platform of DMCH for the general public to make them aware about Thalassemia.
The voluntary blood donation camp was organized by Department of Paediatrics and Department of Transfusion Medicine, DMCH. This camp is an annual feature where faculty and residents come forward in large number to support this noble case.
The camp was inaugurated by Secretary DMCH Managing Society Sh Prem Kumar Gupta, along with Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Dean Academics Dr Sandeep Kaushal, Medical Supdts. Dr Sandeep Sharma and Dr Bishav Mohan. Other present on the occasion were Mr Rajesh Kapoor Head Zindgi Live Foundation, Mr Pankaj from Rock foundation, Mr Rajjat From PBG Welfare Club etc.
Prinicipal Dr Sandeep Puri said that DMCH is always committed to provide the best medical care facilities to Thalassemia patients. By spreading awareness among general public, this problem can be prevented said Dr Puri and he lauded the efforts of thalassemia team to organize this camp.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bishav Mohan, Medical Supdt. said that DMCH looks after all the aspects of thalassemia from its prevention to management. Dedicated Thalassemia team and BMT (Bone Marrow Transplant) unit at DMCH provide best services at affordable cost, said Dr Mohan.
Dr Amarjit Kaur Professor & Head Department of Transfusion Medicine highlighted that, Transfusion Department at DMCH is equipped with the latest state of art equipment for safe blood transfusion.
Dr Shruti Kakkar, Associate Professor Department of Paediatrics and Incharge Thalassemia Unit DMCH said that children with Thalassemia need blood transfusion throughout his/her life. Thalassemia unit at DMCH provides the best state of art treatment at highly subsidized charges, said Dr Kakkar.
A poster making competition and a role play was organized by the Nursing students of DMCH College of Nursing in Paediatrics OPD Block of DMCH to make people aware about Thalassemia |
