                                'National Safe Motherhood’ day observed

DMCH, College of Nursing, Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing Department celebrated National Safe Motherhood day, 2022 under the theme “Remain at home amid coronavirus, protect mother and infant safe from coronavirus” by organizing exhibition for the young couples planning for parenthood, antenatal and postnatal mothers at Gynae OPD of DMC&H, Ludhiana under the able guidance of Dr. (Mrs) Triza Jiwan, Principal, CON and Prof. Nidhi Sagar, Vice Principal and HOD of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing Department.

Sh. Prem Kumar Gupta was the chief Guest at the occasion. Delegates were welcomed by Mrs. Neha Singla, Assist. Prof., DMCH College of Nursing.

Dr Ashima Taneja, Professor & Head , Dr Suman Puri, Professor and Unit Head, Dr Shweta Gupta, Professor, and Dr Kanupriya Jain Associate Professor  from Department Obst. & Gynae were also present on the occasion.

Secretary DMCH Managing Society, Sh. Prem Kumar Gupta lauded the efforts of DMCH College of Nursing for conducting this event and Mr Gupta said that the goal of this day celebration is to increase awareness that every woman has a right to live and survive pregnancy and childbirth.

Dr. Ashwani  K Chaudhary Medical Supdt., Professor and  Head Department of Neurosurgery said that special attention needs to be paid to prevent and minimize  the maternal death rate.

Dr. (Mrs) Triza Jiwan highlighted the importance of nurses in Safe motherhood. She said that our primary focus is on better nursing and better nursing techniques as nurses are frontline and have better reach amongst the masses and specially the poorly served rural communities.

Prof. Nidhi Sagar unfolded the theme of Safe motherhood day, 2022. She told about the importance of celebrating safe motherhood day, care during preconception, during pregnancy, during antenatal and postnatal period.

Dr. Ashima Taneja, HOD, Obstetrics and Gynaecology focused on the importance of women’s health, in particular, the four pillars of safe motherhood.

A role play regarding safe motherhood also enacted by the nursing students under the able guidance of Mrs. Neha Singla, Mrs Savita assistant Professor and Mrs. Mamta Associate Professor

 

The students prepared charts under the guidance of Mrs. Savita and Mrs. Neha Singla, Assistant Prof. and Mrs. Mamta, Associate Prof. The exhibition was judged and students were awarded with certificates.
