Rare case of child who fight against COVID 19
A 10-years child Jaswant Singh (name changed) was admitted in DMCH due to COVID 19 recovery phase complication and got discharged after 14 days of hospitalization in DMCH. The patient had come to DMCH with complaints of fever and breathing difficulties. At admission the patient was in shock with very low blood pressure. During the course of treatment the patient developed respiratory (breathing) failure and needed high level of ventilator support and also needed multiple medicines to maintain his blood pressure. The patient was extensively managed by expert team of doctors. In spite of having dealt with it and he recovered from the most dreaded complication. Presently, the patient was recovered completely and is being discharge in stable condition. Secretary of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta said that DMCH is managing all the high risk and critical patients and has been taking every possible step in treating COVID and non-COVID patients with equal attention and proper diagnosis. According to Dr Siddharth Bhargava, Associate Professor Department of Padiatrics, this type of COVID recovery complication called Multisystem Inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) occasionally arises in children and can become rapidly fatal if not recognised and treated in time. Many children with this dreaded complication many initially develop abdominal symptoms like diarrhoea, stomach ache, vomiting and later develop low BP with heart failure. This may misleading the people and they usually expect breathing related symptoms due to COVID. Hence we should aware that these symptoms can be seen in COVID19 infection among children. Professor of Medicine-Dr Rajesh Mahajan said that children of all ages can become ill with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). But most kids who are infected typically don't become as sick as adults and some might not show any symptoms at all. And there is a possibility for many children to suffer from Corona recovery problem which needs intensive care and proper treatment. There should be no delay in diagnosis and people don’t come to the doctor until they show any critical health issues. For early detection we should minimising this time gap, So that required treatment can be given to the COVID patients. Parents of the child expressed their gratitude, according to them it was very painful and emotional journey but they feel like home. They thanked to the team of DMCH for providing care and extra effort during their hospital stay.
