In an Anti-Obesity Awareness March from Old DMC to New DMCH, nearly 600 people including doctors, rotarians, medical & nursing students, cyclists, school students, patients and general public participated in “Walkathon- 2011”

The walk was flagged off by Additional Commissioner of Municipal Corporation-Mr MS Jaggi.  The rally was organized by DMCH in association with Rotary Club Ludhiana Greater, Cycling Association for Health & Happiness and Guru Nanak Public School.

The walk was concluded at Dumra Auditorium with a prize distribution by the Guest of Honour- Sh Satish Sanwalka and Principal Dr Daljit Singh along with Vice-Principal Dr Jagdeep Whig, Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina, Medical Suptd. Dr Sadeep Puri.

Dr Sanjeev Uppal (Professor & Head of Plastic Surgery and President of Rotary Club, Ludhiana Greater) said that the purpose of organizing “Walkathon-2011” is to create maximum awareness among Indian population to fight obesity by organizing such events

The presence of obesity has reached epidemic proportions in India with Punjab becoming the capital of obesity of India, said Co-ordinator of event- Dr Ashish Ahuja and Dr P S Nain. Other dignitaries present were Dr Dr G S Sidhu (President, Association of Metabolic & Bariartic Surgeons), Dr GS Jammu, Dr Bharti Uppal, Dr KS Kular, ,Dr BS Aulakh, Dr Sandeep Sharma, Dr Harpal Singh, Secretary of Rotary Club, Ludhiana Greater ,Dr Jaspal Singh , Dr Shiba Takkar , Dr Sunaina Jodhka  and Dr Nupur Nippun.
