Annual Conference ‘PUNCIPS-2017’

Two-day Annual Conference of Punjab & Chandigarh Branch Indian Psychiatry Society (PUNCIPS-2017), organized by Ludhiana Psychiatric Welfare Society.  Conference was based on the theme ‘Controversies in Psychiatry’ and was well-attended by around 150 psychiatrists from all over the region.

Secretary of DMCH Managing Society- Sh Prem Kumar Gupta along with MLA Ludhiana, Sh Bharat Bhushan Ashu formally inaugurated the conference in Club Nirvana. Also present during the inaugural ceremony were Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Vice Principal & Chief Cardiologist Dr GS Wander and Medical Supdts Dr Sandeep Sharma and Dr Ashwani Chaudhary

The two-day conference highlighted various aspects pertaining to the field of Psychiatry.

Organizing Chairperson-Dr Navkiran S Mahajan extended warm welcome to all the dignitaries and delegates present on the occasion. In her message, Dr Mahajan said that the purpose of organizing this two-day conference was to update the budding psychiatrists about current trends and issues in the field of Psychiatry.

Organizing Secretary- Dr Rupesh Chaudhary expressed his deep gratitude to all the eminent guest speakers and delegates, who had come from different parts of the region to attend this conference.  

 Giving information about the details of scientific sessions held during this two-day conference, Dr Chaudhary informed that the first day of the conference began with ‘Dr Vidya Sagar Memorial Oration’ by Dr Ajit Avasthi from PGIMER, Chandigarh followed by lectures on various other subjects by eminent speakers-Dr Sandeep Puri and Dr Gagandeep Singh from DMCH, Dr Nimesh Desai, Dr BS Chavan, DrNavkiran S Mahajan and Dr Ravinder Rao. The first day of the conference got concluded with Dr RL Narang Poster Award Session given to Dr. Devakshi Dua and Dr V Natarajan from PGIMER, Chandigarh and  Free Poster Presentation by PG Residents of Psychiatry Department.

The second and concluding day of the conference  began with Free Paper presentation, which were conducted in two different halls of the venue and Chairpersons during the free paper presentation were Dr Gulbahar Sidhu, Dr Puneet Kathuria, Dr JS Sandhu and Dr Pankaj Kumar

Dr Sandeep Grover, Dr Arvind Sharma and Dr Akhilesh Sharma delivered lectures on various topics.

In General Body Meeting held during the conference, Dr Rupesh Chaudhary was declared  as President of Punjab & Chandigarh Branch Indian Psychiatry Society.

The scientific sessions, during the conference were well organized by Dr. Sandeep Goyal, Dr. Anshu Gupta and Dr. Pankaj Kumar.
