workshop on ‘Neonatal Echocardiography’ (29th -30th April 17)
Division of Neonatology and Department of Pediatrics, had conducted two days workshop on ‘Neonatal Echocardiography’ and ‘Point of Care Ultrasound’ which got concluded today evening.
The workshop was formally inaugurated by Secretary of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta. Also present on the occasion were Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina, Medical Suptds Dr Sandeep Sharma & Dr Ashwani Chaudhary, Assistant Dean Academics Dr Sandeep Kaushal and Dr Kavita Saggar (Professor & Head of Radio diagnosis)
In her address to the participating delegates, Dr Puneet Aulakh Pooni (Professor & Head of Pediatrics) said that the workshop is aimed to train the participating delegates to diagnose the problems of new- born children at bed side, using ultrasound machines. Timely detection and treatment of problem can save lives of many infants.
Dr Kamal Arora, Neonatologist at DMCH, said that treating critically-ill newborns is a challenge for pediatricians and neonatologists. It involves a lot of clinical knowledge and expertise to save those children who are in ICUs and fighting for their life. Organizing of such workshops help the pediatricians and neeonatologits to update their skills in treating critically-ill infants, said Dr Kamal
The guest speakers who had come all the way from different parts of the county include Dr Mohit Sahni from Surat, Dr Pardeep Suryavanshi from Pune, Dr Venkat and Dr Shiv Sajan from PGIMER, Chandigarh, Dr Rohit Tandon from Hero DMC Heart Institute. They enlightened the delegates about various aspects of diagnosing health-related problems of newborn babies by using ultrasound machines
It is worth mentioning that Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in DMCH is level 3 accredited by National Neonatology Forum,which conducts various fellowship programs for doctors and nurses for the last four years.
