Annual Cultural Festival ‘ECTOPIA-2016’ held 10th -12th Feb,2016
Three-day Annual Inter Batch Cultural Events Competition ‘Ectopia-2016’ began in Dumra Auditorium. The function was formally inaugurated by Secretary of DMCH Managing Society Prem Kumar Gupta along with Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina, and Medical Superintendent Dr Sandeep Sharma and members of DMCH Cultural Committee. During the festival, undergraduate medical students will take part in various talent hunt competitions. In his address, Principal and Chairperson of DMCH Cultural Committee-Dr. Sandeep Puri said that the tradition and endeavor at DMCH has always been to have an atmosphere of extra curricular activities apart from studies. As we embark upon a new edition of ECTOPIA 2016 it is my fervent desire that all students come up and participate in this event with full zeal and enthusiasm, said Dr Puri. Organising of such extracurricular activities give medical students a chance to explore their interests and talents and an opportunity to relax and rejuvenate themselves them from their hectic academic routine, said Dr Puri.
The events during ‘ECTOPIA-2016’ will be held in the morning from 11.00 am to 2 pm and in the evening from 6:30 pmonwards. The theme of “Ectopia-2016” is ‘Viva La Vida’ which is a Latin word and means "To live your life”
The first day of ‘Ectopia-2016’ witnessed competitions in Ad Fads, Turn Coat Extempore, Dubsmash and Treasure Hunt. In ‘Ad Fads’ the students conceptualize an advertisement based on wit and humour and this segment receives lots of applause from the students. The students were seen fully enthusiastic about the event and came up with vibrant ideas based on the theme. The events to be held on today evening include Antakshri, Solo Song and Duet Dance.
The events held on second day of ECTOPIA include Antakshri, Solo Song, Duet Dance and Made for Each Other. In ‘Chance Pe Dance’ segment, students performed on some fascinating dance performances from a medley of bollywood and Punjabi numbers. In ‘solo song’ segment students mesmerised the audience with their soulful performance as they sing a medley of evergreen songs of Bollywood.
The Dumra Auditorium was jampacked with students who cheered the participants. Off-stage events held today include Graffiti, Tattoo Making, T-Shirt slogan writing and Nail Art . ‘ECTOPIA-2016’ enters it third and concluding day where highly energetic medical students toil to win appreciation for their talents. The enthusiasm of students and participants reached its zenith today. On Thursday evening, the students witnessed thrilling performance in different segments including Group Song, Solo Dance, Choreography/Skit and Duet Songs. In ‘skit’ segment life of a medical student was very meticulously displayed and it was widely appreciated by the students and faculty.
