CME on Critical Care Nephrology held
Department of Cardiac Anesthesia & Intensive Care, Hero DMC Heart Institute organized CME on Critical Care Nephrology on the theme ‘Acute Kidney Injury in ICU: What we can offer…?’
The CME was formally inaugurated by Secretary of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta.
Organizing Chairman-Dr Rajesh Mahajan extended warm welcome to the dignitaries and participating delegates present on the occasion. In his address, Dr Mahajan said that the purpose of organizing this CME is to discuss and create awareness about Acute Kidney Injury (AKI), its prevention and state-of-the-art information pertinent to the management of AKI in critically ill patients.
Organizing Secretary-Dr Vivek Gupta said the CME is designed for physicians, caring for the critically ill, including practitioners in critical care, pulmonary medicine, surgery, emergency medicine, anaesthesia and internal medicine. During the CME, updated information on the pathophysiology and management of Renal dysfunction which is commonly encountered in the practice of critical care medicine were presented. Multidisciplinary and multi-professional faculty from the UCSF School of Medicine presented the latest data on both pathophysiology and practical management aspects of caring for the critically ill patients.
The CME began with lecture on ‘AKI in ICU-Definition & Pathophysiology’ by Dr Rajan Issac from Deep Hospital, Ludhiana followed by lectures on ‘Prevention of AKI’ and ‘Renal Replacement Theories’ by Dr Ashish Bhalla and Dr Manish Rathi from PGIMER respectively.
‘Role of CRRT in AKI’ was discussed by Dr RK Sharma from SGPGI, Lucknow and Dr Yash Javeri from New Delhi elaborated on ‘Emerging strategies in management of sepsis’
The CME got concluded with a panel discussion and case based discussion, in which participants actively participated to clear their doubts about Acute Kidney Injury.
