The college round of “24th IAP (Indian Academy of Paediatrics) Paediatric Quiz for undergraduate students” was held at Dumra Auditorium.
Six teams comprising of Satjeet Kaur Deol and Saloni Goyal, Shaika and Nitika Mahajan, Rakesh Kumar and Anuj Mahajan, Gurkamal Kaur Toor and Mehak Singla, Jasleen Kaur and Navneet Kaur, Akshjot Puri and Sudanshu Mahajan took part in the quiz which focused on different aspects of pediatric diseases, their management and treatment.
Professor and Head of Pediatrics at DMCH- Dr. Harmesh Singh Bains, who is a Local Co-ordinator of IAP Quiz, welcomed the guests and participating teams. He mentioned that the basic objectives of the quiz are to create interest about the pediatrics among the undergraduate medical students.
The quiz is organised every year in all medical colleges of the country. The winning team from the college-round takes part in the divisional contest and winners of this round enter the zonal round. After winning these rounds, they take part in the national-level quizcontest, informed Dr. Bains.
Principal and Professor of Pediatrics-Dr. Daljit Singh was the quiz master and conducted the entire quiz programme in a very interesting and informative manner. Throughout the programme, Dr.Daljit Singh. captivated the participants and the audience with his sheerknowledge and affable nature. Seven rounds of questions were conducted during the quizprogramme.
The team of Rakesh Kumar and Anuj Mahajan of Batch 2007 was declared overall winners while Shaika and Nitika Mahajan of the same batch were declared second and team of Akshjot Suri of Batch 2007 and Sudanshu Mahajan of Batch 2008 stood third.
Among those from the department of Pediatrics who were present on the occasion were Dr. Praveen C. Sobti, Dr Puneet A. Pooni, Dr.Gurdeep Singh Dhooria and Dr Siddharth Bhargav.
